On the TikTok Shop platform, seller-creator Huyen Phi (@huyenphi _97) recorded an inspiring and positive journey. Despite initial difficulties, Huyen Phi's family has been continuously working to develop gooseberry jam, a specialty of the West.
Thanks to the support from family and relatives and relentless perseverance, Huyen Phi has opened a new door for her hometown specialties in TikTok Shop. Taking advantage of TikTok Shop's multi-content platform and seamless integrated solutions, Huyen Phi not only does business but also shares stories that inspire the community, creating good values for society.
Reflecting on her development process, Huyen Phi spoke about the challenges she faced and how she overcame each difficulty with determination and dedication. Huyen Phi shared, "In the past 20 to 30 years, most houses in the West planted at least one or two gooseberry trees and used them to make delicious jam. However, over time, gooseberries lost their competitive edge against other new jams. Merchants decided to cut down the trees, and gooseberry jam drifted into oblivion.Realizing this, Huyen Phi hoped that 'Where there's life, there's hope.' She tried to find supplies from the Central provinces, but the journey was quite difficult. I clearly remember my husband and I going to seemingly every village in the neighborhood to talk with each household about our desire to preserve the gooseberry trees. It is our native product, and gooseberry jam still has a lot of potential to exploit. Huyen is committed to introducing and investing in the production process.Initially, only a few households accepted the offer to plant adjacent to the vacant land. However, after witnessing how much the jam was loved and how their hometown specialties were supported through LIVE sessions and video sales on Huyen's TikTok Shop channel, they began to believe it and started investing more. To date, the surrounding area has become the main source, with planting expanding to over 50 hectares of land.Reflecting on this journey, Huyen personally believes that her insight comes from always maintaining the mindset of a pure farmer. The great thing is that TikTok Shop has created ample space and activities for the Huyen Phi channel to reintroduce local specialties, spread the good things from their homeland, and create more economic opportunities, specifically job opportunities, for people in the area."Sharing more about the production process, Huyen Phi described it as another challenge. She said, "The production and processing of gooseberry jam are done entirely by hand. From the import to export stages, the process is closely monitored by our families. The preparation of gooseberry jam requires many meticulous steps, such as freezing the berries to maintain their shape, then defrosting them to soften and easily squeeze out the water, while ensuring they remain intact. Since we avoid using artificial colors and preservatives, we use the traditional method of cooking on a wood stove until the product reaches the appropriate red color while retaining its original flavor."In 2023, Huyen Phi recorded sales of more than 40,000 products of gooseberry jam on TikTok Shop. On the first day of sales, the number of orders exceeded the limit within two hours. The number of sales gradually increased, reaching 1,000 orders per day, equivalent to nearly 2,000 gooseberries sold daily.
Furthermore, the Huyen Phi family has not only focused on the production of gooseberry jam but has also set a greater goal of helping many rural workers. They aim to create job opportunities and improve the lives of the surrounding community.
To date, Huyen Phi has made efforts to participate in joint promotion activities in the OCOP Market project in Bac Giang, Lam Dong, Dong Thap, Can Gio, An Giang, and other locations, receiving a lot of support and love from users on the platform. With remarkable success, Huyen Phi has created a bright spot in the TikTok Shop community, proving that perseverance and hard work can achieve all goals, big and small.
